Sime Darby Berhad today announced that DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC) has acquired Sime Darby Global Services Centre (SDGSC), the group’s in-house provider of HR, Finance & Accounting and IT services. The sale of SDGSC is in line with the Group’s strategy to focus on the growth of its core businesses in automotive and heavy equipment trading.
Previously a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sime Darby Berhad, the deal is a strategic step in pushing SDGSC ahead, enabling it to expand its portfolio and gain access to cutting edge technologies through the acquisition agreement with DXC Technology, a global leader in the Business Process Services (BPS) space.
As part of the sale, Sime Darby Berhad has also signed a long-term outsourcing agreement with DXC, which will ensure that the Group will continue to have access to world-class standards, processes and technology.
The employees of SDGSC who come with deep market, domain knowledge and skill sets will transition to DXC as part of this acquisition.
“The Global Services Centre has served us well in enhancing efficiency and productivity since 2008, and the deal with DXC is expected to further drive productivity gains for the Group,” Sime Darby Berhad’s Group Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Jeffri Salim Davidson said.
“The partnership with DXC is particularly meaningful due to the recognition our talent at Sime Darby Global Services Centre is getting for their hard work and commitment that has made the company what it is today,” he added.
Effective immediately, SDGSC will be fully integrated into the BPS and delivery operations of DXC Malaysia.
“DXC Technology has a strong market presence across Asia, with Malaysia serving as a strategic capability hub,” said Koushik Radhakrishnan, vice president and general manager, DXC Technology Asia. “As customers proliferate digital scale, the managed services agreement with Sime Darby Berhad and acquisition of Sime Darby Global Services Centre enhances our relevance to customers in Asia, and enables innovation and productivity improvements for Sime Darby.”
