Growing Through Opportunity at Sime Motors: Salahuddin Muhamad 

His journey at Sime reflects how opportunity, trust and a supportive environment can shape not only professional success, but personal transformation as well. 

Salahuddin began his automotive career in the finance department, where he spent more than 12 years building a strong and stable foundation. While the role sharpened his analytical skills, he felt a strong desire to explore other parts of the business, one that would allow him to engage more with others.  

Challenging himself to grow further, Salahuddin moved to sales at Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC) Ford Penang, where he has now been for more than two years. The move allowed him to step out of his comfort zone and develop new skills. In sales, he interacts directly with customers, leads teams and plays a more visible role in driving business performance. 

At the heart of his approach to sales is trust. Salahuddin believes honesty and transparency are essential, both within the team and with customers and business partners. For him, success is about delivering confidence, satisfaction and meaningful customer experiences. 

Joining Sime Motors reinforced many of his values. Drawn to the organisation’s strong reputation, professionalism and association with leading brands such as Ford, he found a working environment that encourages teamwork, continuous learning and personal growth. Over time, he was given greater responsibilities and the chance to work across different teams and departments, which expanded his professional horizons and strengthened his leadership skills.  

These opportunities also contributed significantly to Salahuddin’s personal growth. Sharing that he was more introverted before, he gradually developed into a confident and people‑focused leader. Exposure to diverse perspectives and experiences helped to strengthen his communication skills and self‑belief.
