Terberg Tractors Malaysia (TTM) Manufactures its 3,000th Unit
Kuala Lumpur, 15 August 2017 – Terberg Tractors Malaysia Sdn Bhd (TTM), a 50:50 joint venture between Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd (SDI) and Terberg Group B.V., achieved a significant milestone with the production of its 3,000th terminal tractor at its manufacturing facility in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
TTM had also recently introduced a Lifecycle Maintenance Contract system that offers its customers a hassle-free and a more cost-efficient way of managing and maintaining their fleet.
"We are thrilled to announce the production of our 3,000th terminal tractor. Since 2011, we have made significant investments to our manufacturing capabilities, which has seen the facility more than double its output in the last 6 years. This achievement reinforces TTM’s position as a leading manufacturer of terminal tractors in Southeast Asia,” said General Manager of TTM, Mr Boo Wei Ching.
The company’s Lifecycle Maintenance Contract guarantees maintenance of the machines autonomously, and affords customers with a simpler and more cost efficient way of maintaining their fleet. Through a one-time agreement, customers can be relieved of a cost base of maintaining spare parts inventories and maintenance management for the tractor’s lifespan. TTM’s Lifecycle Contracts approach puts it at the forefront of the industry, giving the company a lead in pricing and a competitive edge by helping their customers manage cost.
"There are no other manufacturers in this industry with services like TTM. Our Lifecycle Maintenance Contracts ensures maximum uptime and value-enhanced performance for our customers. We have seen encouraging sales and believe it will increase year by year," added Wei Ching.
TTM acquired SDI’s manufacturing arm, Terberg Manufacturing & Assembly Sdn Bhd in Pasir Gudang in 2013 and since then, has increased the facility’s manufacturing capacity from 4 units per week to 16 units per week. The company is confident that it will be able to produce up to 4,000 units by 2018. TTM’s terminal tractors produced in Pasir Gudang are marketed to over 46 countries.
Recently, TTM secured a “crown jewel” contract with Port of Singapore Authority (PSA). The company will supply the majority of PSA’s fleet, which makes it the largest single order in the history for Terberg worldwide. PSA is renowned for its demand for stringent quality standards and after-sales support, and this contract reflects its trust in TTM and the Terberg brand. Terberg recently also launched its first made in Malaysia autonomous terminal tractor which is the first in the world.
